Year 11 to Units 3/4: a summer prep checklist
What to do between the end of Year 11 and the start of Units 3/4 so you start Year 12 ahead, not catching up.
Why the summer matters
Units 3/4 move quickly and school-assessed coursework starts early. Students who arrive in Term 1 already familiar with the first topics have more time for practice questions and less stress when the first assessments arrive.
The checklist
- Get the study design for each subject and read the key knowledge for the first Area of Study.
- Pre-learn the first two or three topics so Term 1 is revision, not first exposure.
- Fix weak spots from Year 11 — especially algebra for Maths and essay structure for English.
- Read your English texts at least once before school starts.
- Set up a simple weekly study timetable you can actually keep.
How we help
Our small-group VCE classes cover upcoming Units 3/4 content ahead of school, with 30 minutes of doubt time every session for the questions students are too shy to ask in a big class.
