How parents can support study at home
Practical ways to help your child study well — without becoming the homework police.
Create the environment
A consistent study space and routine does more than long lectures about effort. Agree on regular study times and keep devices out of the study area where possible.
Ask better questions
- Instead of “Did you study?”, try “What did you learn today?”
- Ask them to explain a topic to you — teaching is one of the best ways to learn.
- Praise effort and strategies, not just marks.
Watch for warning signs
Persistent stress, poor sleep or avoiding school work can signal that a student needs more support. Talk to your child, their school and their tutor early — small problems are much easier to fix than big ones.
