Exam revision that actually works
Practical, evidence-based revision habits for the final weeks before exams.
Practice beats re-reading
Re-reading notes feels productive but rarely sticks. Answering questions from memory — practice exams, flashcards, explaining a topic out loud — is far more effective.
A simple weekly rhythm
- Do at least one timed practice paper per subject each week.
- Mark it honestly against the marking guide and keep a list of mistakes.
- Spend the next study sessions fixing the topics on that list.
- Space revision out across the week rather than cramming one subject.
Look after the basics
Sleep, short breaks and regular meals make a measurable difference to memory and focus. Late-night cramming usually costs more than it gains.
